How long does it take for glass glue to dry out?
The glass glue has two times of surface drying and thorough solidification:
1. Sticking time: The curing process of silicone glue develops from the surface to the inside. The surface drying time and curing time of different characteristics of silicone rubber are different, so if the surface is to be repaired, it must be done before the silicone surface is dry ( Acid glue and neutral transparent glue should generally be within 5-10 minutes, and neutral variegated glue should generally be within 30 minutes). If you use dichroic paper to cover a certain area, after applying the glue, it must be removed before the skin is formed.
2. Curing time: The curing time of silicone glue increases with the increase in bonding thickness. For example, the 12mm thick acid glass glue may take 3-4 days to solidify, but within 24 hours, there is already 3mm The outer layer has been cured.
When glass glue is used to bond glass, metal or most woods, it has a peel strength of 20 pounds per inch after 72 hours at room temperature. If the place where the glass glue is used is partially or completely closed, then the curing time is determined by the tightness of the seal. In an absolutely confined place, it may remain uncured forever. If the temperature is increased, the glass glue will become soft.
The gap between the metal and the metal bonding surface should not exceed 25mm. In various bonding occasions, including in the case of airtight, the bonding effect should be fully checked before using the bonded equipment. During the curing process, the acid glass glue will produce a smell due to the volatilization of acetic acid. This smell will disappear during the curing process, and there will be no peculiar smell after curing.
Things to note:
1. Glass glue often turns black and mildew, even if it is water-proof silica gel or mold-proof silica gel, such problems cannot be completely avoided. Therefore, it is not suitable for construction where there is water or flooding for a long time.
2. Silica gel is an organic substance, which is easily soluble in organic solvent substances such as grease, xylene, acetone, etc. Therefore, glass glue cannot be applied to substrates containing such substances.
3. Ordinary silicone glue can be cured only with the participation of moisture in the air, except for special and special-purpose silicone glue (such as anaerobic glue). Therefore, if the place you are building is a confined space and extremely dry, then Ordinary silica gel will not be competent.
4. The surface of the bonding substrate must be clean, and there must be no other attachments (such as dust, etc.), otherwise the glue will be weak or fall off after curing.
5. Acidic silica gel will release irritating gas during the curing process, which can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract. Therefore, after construction, doors and windows must be opened to ventilate. After it is completely cured and the gas is released, it can be moved in.
